    Description

You are bidding on a signed hand-written letter (4-1/2" X 5-1/4") of a CARL CZERNY piano student, ANNA de BELLEVILLE OURY (1808-1889).
Anna was one of the very first women pianists to tour widely.
Anna, a German pianist was also a composer, the daughter of a French nobleman and director of the Munich opera. She spent her childhood in Augsburg where she studied with a cathedral organist. From 1816-1820 she studied with Czerny in Vienna, where she was introduced to Beethoven and heard him improvise on the piano,
In 1820 she returned to Munich, performing there with great success. She spent next year in Paris, then resumed studies in Vienna with Johann Andreas Streicher. Subsequently toured Warsaw and Berlin. In July 1831 she made her London debut in a concert with Paganini and in October married English violinist, Antonio James Orly.
She devoted her later life primarily to composition, producing some 180 drawing room pieces, mainly dances and fantasies.
    She writes in partial letter-
"Pray dear M. Pratt use all your influence at once without ? of "time" ? me. Hear soon a favorable answer to my request. With kind remembrance to your daughter. Believe me very sincerely, Yours," (signed) Anna de Belleville Oury.
(at fold) "she continues a few days ago ? is looking much better and in better spirits."
There is a center crease and after word, "time" there is a small hole, probably where he pen point skipped.
