Description
Rare 5.25" x 8.25" autographed letter of recommendation signed, Moscow, June 19, 1936. We include an original 5" x 7" glossy double-weight photograph of the composer at the piano. Letters with musical content do not turn up often.Yura Lazko has played Bach and his own march for me. He is very gifted and a serious boy. We can expect a lot from him. We have to take care of him with special attention so he does not do harm with over-technique and try to develop the best of him.
In 1936, Prokofiev (1891-1953) left Paris for good and moved back to the Soviet Union with his family. Faced with the reality that he had to conform and tote the party line, Prokofiev started on his massive work, “Cantata for the 20th Anniversary of the October Revolution” which would be completed in 1938 in time for the celebration. He also composed “Peter and the Wolf” and for the Natalya Stats Children’s Theatre and they also made a second commission which became his “Three Children’s Songs” op. 69.
